Position: Museum Program Assistant

Pay: $15/hour

Position Description: The Program Assistant will assist in running the two popular field trips at both Museums: Hands-on-History & History Detectives. The programs require the Program Assistant to set up tables and activities, train chaperones, and guide student tours. They will also assist with any afternoon education programs: home school groups, scout troop visits, etc. The Program Assistant will also staff Tea & Tours that take place at the Ainsley House, leading tea servers in set up, greeting visitors and overseeing guests. They will staff museum special event programs, such as, Spooky Night, Photos with Santa, and Holiday Open Houses at the Ainsley House. And, the Program Assistant will assist with various museum duties as necessary, i.e.: opening museums during public hours, taking mail to City Hall, checking phone messages, etc.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in the mornings during the school year for our school programs.
  • Must be able to work evenings if necessary
  • Must be available on occasional weekends.

Duties:

  • Set up for the programs before each class or event.
  • Facilitate school tours at each program
  • Memorize Ainsley House tour for school groups
  • This job will require lifting of 35lbs. to move tables
  • Run a Tea and Tour for a private group or during the holidays
  • Work independently
  • Organize groups of people
  • Work well with children & seniors
  • Able to learn to operate a cash register and credit card machine
  • Able to answer phone, email, etc
  • Other office work will be assigned as needed
